The mine accommodates organised groups of between 25 and 40 visitors on the Tourist Route. Group bookings must be made through the official mine website or by contacting rezerwacja@kopalnia.pl directly. Key details:

• Minimum group size: 25 people (not counting visitors with complimentary passes)
• Maximum group size: 40 people per guide
• Languages: All available tour languages can be arranged with advance notice
• Underground meal: Groups can pre-order a set menu at the underground Karczma Górnicza restaurant — order forms on the official website, minimum 48 hours in advance
• Groups larger than 40: Split into multiple sub-groups with staggered starts, each with its own guide

School Groups

Wieliczka Salt Mine is a major destination for Polish schools and increasingly popular with international school groups visiting Kraków. Educational visits can be tailored to curriculum topics including history of industry, geology, chemistry, and Polish cultural heritage. Private Tours Through Licensed Operators

For visitors who want a dedicated guide and exclusive attention rather than joining a shared group, private tour bookings are available through licensed Kraków-based tour operators. A private tour typically includes a dedicated licensed English-speaking guide for your group only, hotel pickup and drop-off from central Kraków, round-trip transfer in a private vehicle, skip-the-line mine entry, and a flexible start time within available tour windows. Total duration is approximately 4–5 hours.

Wieliczka Salt Mine offers unique underground event spaces for private hire. St. Kinga’s Chapel (level 3) is the mine’s flagship event space, used for concerts, ceremonies, and weddings — it seats several hundred people and has extraordinary natural acoustics. The Budryk Chamber housing Karczma Górnicza restaurant can be booked for private group meals and events. The Stanisław Staszic Chamber, the mine’s largest at 36 metres high, hosts gala dinners and major events — it once held an underground hot-air balloon flight and bungee jump that made the Guinness Book of Records.

Pilgrimage Route

The Pilgrimage Route is a specialist tour designed for religious groups, following a trail through the mine’s underground chapels and devotional spaces.
